Origin
Taiwan is home to a rich diversity of butterfly species, with approximately 400 species, and Alishan in Chiayi is home to about 200 species, accounting for 50% of the total number of species in Taiwan.The site of this artwork is located within the Forestry Sawmill Park along the Alishan Forest Railway, and it seeks to transform the imagery of butterflies fluttering through the air into an abstract space,People can not only rest and stay here to sightsee and play, but it also expresses the application and morphological possibilities of bamboo construction, while allowing Alishan's unique butterfly biodiversity to be translated and showcased.

Beneath the bamboo material, diagonal lines define several spatial fields of varying sizes and heights, featuring scales for both children and adults. The space is fluid, with circulation that is free and flexible. As people wander and pass through it, the space presents alternating variations of light, dark, solid, and void, creating a sense of spatial layering and tension between compression and openness.
Development process
Inspired by this beautiful origin in nature, we attempt to seek a new prototype that unites space and structure within it.
Using three sizes of bamboo sheet units diagonally connected to form a basic triangular structural prototype, the floor plan axes are three-way straight lines, horizontally extending based on a staggered generation rule, while having corresponding elevation changes along the Z-axis, shaping a layered, fluttering canopy that unifies space and structure with multiple skylight shafts—Fluttering.
