Yundao. Lacquer uses bamboo and lacquer as its core media, reorganizing traditional materials into contemporary vessels and lifestyle works.
Yun Dao's lacquer creations focus on the intersection of bamboo craftsmanship and lacquer art. Bamboo itself possesses fibers, elasticity, and a sense of lightness, while lacquer brings protection, color, and temporal depth. The combination of the two creates a warm and delicate vessel expression.
Starting from the material itself, creator Chen Yi-miao focuses on the relationship among the bamboo base, surface treatment, and lacquer layers. The works do not pursue excessive decoration, but instead allow the materials to reveal their own texture through simple lines.
Yun Island: Urushi allows bamboo ware to go beyond traditional functions and enter contemporary lives and spaces. Through the adornment and protection of lacquer art, bamboo craftsmanship is endowed with the possibility of longer-lasting use, while also preserving the time spent in the handmade crafting process.
