Taiwan Takata Co., Ltd., established in 1980, initially focused on bamboo processing as its main business. Its primary operations involved processing various types and varieties of bamboo, with basic contract work including removing bamboo branches and leaves while retaining the bamboo culms, drying the bamboo poles, and cutting them to size.

Because high-quality Yushan cane could only be harvested at high altitudes in the Alishan and Yangmingshan mountain ranges, once Alishan and Yangmingshan became national parks in the late 1980s, it could no longer be obtained. The shortage of raw materials forced Taiwan Takada Co., Ltd. to face the choice of either transforming its business or closing the factory in the late 1980s.
