The Aesthetic of #
Concept
Taiwan is a mountainous island with 268 peaks over 3,000 meters above sea level distributed across an area of only 36,000 square kilometers,is one of the islands with the highest mountain density in the world. The geographical and climatic environment of each mountain shapes a diverse flora and fauna ecosystem. Moreover, the forest railway is the only railway that penetrates deep into this nature. This railway has not only weathered the trials and tribulations of nature, but also carries the memories of the Taiwanese people.
This design primarily aims to present mountain and forest imagery on a weathered logging railway flatcar, taking viewers back to evoke a tranquil sanctuary amidst the bustling city.

The process of developing a design must be mindful of the very direct challenges that will actually be encountered. For example, the model has already revealed some issues. The bamboo on the model is inserted into corrugated cardboard, but the train platform is a metal plate. Therefore, each of these attachment points is a problem that must be faced in reality: how to secure them? In addition, the relationship between the ropes and the poles needs to be reconsidered. Because the surface area for securing the vertical poles on the platform is not large, it is doubtful whether they will still be able to powerfully tension the ropes after undergoing long-distance leverage.
In terms of the overall space, the bending of the members shows a fundamental desire to enclose space, but the current density of the members results in a relatively low overall degree of enclosure, making the formation of space rather weak. It is suggested that the degree of cladding can be further enhanced. (Hsu Pei-Hsien)
